Change: Money, power, people
April 2009
This year saw the first black U.S. president, the worsening of the global economic crisis, the evolution of worldwide conflicts and many other irrevocable changes. These global transformations are mirrored in Toronto neighbourhoods. President Obama's call for action seems to have inspired activists, volunteers and organizations in the city. The crash on Wall Street hits Toronto’s most vulnerable residents: its students, welfare recipients, small business owners, and sex trade workers. Conflicts abroad like the civil war in Sri Lanka haunt local residents. As Toronto hits this time of flux, its people redefine themselves. The reporters of Global360@North44 give you an inside look at the shifting gears all around the city.
